When you start the program with VASL 6.6.7 configured, you get a warning message that things might work, but they might not, yes...? This is one of the things that don't work. Configure VASL…

You've got Java 1.8 configured, and VASSAL stopped running with that an extremely large number of moons ago :-) If you delete the entry, *vasl-templates* will use the Java that gets installed…
